Meltham All Blacks - 0 Wortley Dragons - 34.
This was the All Blacks first match after nearly a six-week break, due to Christmas and waterlogged pitches. This break, coupled with
people's work commitments, resulted in a small but very positive turn out of players. Possibly not the best situation when playing top of
the table Wortley. However, this led to one of the best team performances of the season with all 14 players working hard for one another. Early tries in the first half by Wortley were answered by a strong defensive work from Meltham this did not allow them to increase their
score any further. Meltham came close to scoring through Richard Ellis but he was held up close to the line.
The second half started in much the same manner, Meltham competing with the visitors, preventing them scoring and taking the game to them.
However, with only one replacement, the physical effort started to take its toll and Wortley scored, further increasing their lead. Despite the score line the Meltham players were very positive about their performance and future games. Wortley voted Matthew Carter as best back and Carl Batley as best forward. Meltham's own man of the match was Carl Batley but this was a
team performance, with all 14 players performing superbly.
