Meltham All Blacks - 6 Hollinwood 10
Heavy rain in the proceeding week had managed to turn the All Blacks pitch into a mud bath that did not lend itself to flowing rugby. Both teams turned the ball over on a
regular basis due to the conditions in this close cup match. Hollinwood opened the scoring early in the first half and held the lead until a good call and put Oliver Storey over the line in well-drilled move. Richard Ellis dually added the
extra points. The half time score was 6 a piece.
In the second half Meltham spent a lot of time in Hollinwood's half but all credit to the visitors who kept their composure and defended really well. Somewhat against the run of
play Hollinwood broke into Meltham's half and managed to cross to score the match-winning try. Meltham attempted to get back into the game but with the clock against them
it was not to be.
The game would have benefited from being allowed to flow more if the conditions had been taken into account.
Meltham's man of the match was Sean robinson. Hollinwood nominated Sean Robinson as Meltham's best back and Bam Bam as our best forward. Thanks to Richard Barber for sponsoring the match.
