Meltham All Blacks Under 12’s – Home to Siddal
Meltham 4- Siddal 0
Meltham’s under 12’s are hitting a rich vein of form. In an undefeated start to
2007 this was arguably their best performance of the season to date. Full credit must go to both teams for the high levels of skill and ball control in what were very poor conditions.
With Meltham playing down the slope in the first period the majority of play was in Siddal’s half. Tre Miller, Patrick Diavewa and Michael Holmes were making valuable metres forward and with the backs looking dangerous on attack it was only the excellent defensive effort from Siddal that managed to keep Meltham at bay. At half time the scores were level.
In the second period Siddal must have fancied there chances with there much bigger pack running down the slope, but the Melthams defence was in no mood to let the game slip away. With the game looking like it was set for a draw Jebel Ceesay received the ball out wide and showed tremendous strength and footwork to beat the defence and race away to the line.Testement to the Meltham defence is this was the first ever game this Siddal side had been unable to score a point against. Meltham’s man of the match for his excellent defence and brilliant finishing was Jebel Ceesay. Top Tackler was George King.
