Meltham All Blacks Under 8’s – Home to Townville
Meltham 30 - Townville 32
Jordan Williams took the lead and showed a clean pair of heals to cross the line for the opening try, which he converted, shortly followed by his second (10 - 0). Soon after, the up and coming talent of George Kenworthy-Sykes put another four points on the scoreboard to make it 14 - 0 and put Meltham well in control. Unfortunately Townville put their team on the map on the stroke of half time (14 - 6). The team were working very hard, Darren Walker, Tom Hindle, Lewis Bull, and Ryan White tackling well. Christian Pestell started the second half with a strong unchallenged run and was rewarded with the first of his two tries of the day. Carl Sykes, Alex Zatoski were making good runs with Molly Doyle backing up and showing newcomer Jordan James how to play. However, Meltham were not in control of the game much longer and Townville replied with a further two tries. Jordan was to go over again for the home side to give him his hat trick and Christian Pestell nearly came away with the winner on the stroke of full time but was denied by the touch line. A close one to call

Meltham All Blacks Under 12’s – Away at Siddal
Siddal 14 Meltham 10
This was an epic battle in the Yorkshire cup first round. It took 95 minutes to finally decide the outcome. Meltham started the game strongly scoring a great try when the ball was passed along the line to flying winger Conner Robertson who raced in from 40 meters. Siddal struck back just before the break to level things up at half time. Siddal started the second half the stronger crossing just after the kick off to build up a 10 points to 4 lead.
From the restart the ball was kicked to George King who broke the first line of defence and had enough pace to beat the chasing pack to the line. George kicked the conversion to level play up again. For the remainder of normal time both teams had their chances to win with Jack Thompson going close for Meltham on three occasions. The game went into extra time with both sets of defence working overtime keep their lines intact. With nobody able to produce the killer blow in extra time the game went into golden point. This means the teams carry on playing until their is a score to decide a winner.
A further 20 minutes of extra time was played before a Siddal player managed to run around the cover and score in the corner. Coaches Andy King and Richard Baines were proud of the efforts of the players. To keep up the level of intensity and commitment in a collision sport for over one and a half hours when you are only 10 or 11 years old shows what great fitness levels and attitude these players have got
